The SsangYong brand was saved from bankruptcy after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic left it facing financial difficulties. At the time it was renamed KG Mobility.
KG Group has since changed tact and opted for 'KGM Global'.
Newly launched vehicles sold in the UK will be badged KGM. KGM Motors UK has also opted to retain the SsangYong logo.
In addition to the new name, the UK distributor has adopted the brand's global slogan, "Go Different. KGM".
Kevin Griffin, managing director of KGM Motors UK, said: “KGM Global has changed its name for the first time in 35-years as it transforms into a brand for the future. This is an exciting period for us all in terms of unveiling a refreshed, modern brand identity alongside the development and launch of impressive products which utilise new technologies. We have embraced the change here in the UK and we will continue to grow as a proud and respected SUV and pick-up truck brand.”
KGM will expand its model line-up in 2024 with the launch of the Torres compact SUV. It will be available with petrol and electric powertrains. A new electric pick-up truck is also expected to arrive next year.
